| You are looking at 27 vintage glass marbles. Mostly they appear to be agate slag, some could be patches, striped onyx, glassie, flintie, tri-color or opaque. Condition varies. Whether these vintage marbles were made by Akro Agate, Master Marble, Marble King, Christensen or Peltier I do not know, since most marble companies had few exclusive designs (an example of an exception would be Akro Agate's exclusive designs, the Popeye and the Corkscrew marble). The orange and white over a clear base marble in this lot is possibly a Popeye.
These vintage marbles are part of a collection of marbles that were casually collected by my mother from estate sales and displayed in jars. Her interest was purely from an aethetic point of view since she collected vintage slag glass, Akro Agate in particular. She had a keen 'collector's eye' so even though we never took the time to research her marble collection I would not be surprised if there are some 'treasures' to be discovered! |
